The problem on a busy delivery day
DPD is fast, which is exactly what makes redirecting awkward. The parcel can go from collected to out with a driver overnight, and the option to change where it goes only exists in between.
With one parcel you can keep an eye on it. With eight, from different retailers, each reaching DPD at a different time, you are checking the app all evening and still missing one. A missed one means a failed delivery, a card through the door and a trip to the depot.
DPD also checks the delivery postcode before it lets you change anything. A typo, or the wrong one of two addresses you use, and you are locked out of the option for that parcel.
How DPD Pickup shop redirect works
This is DPD's own in-flight option, available to any recipient through the DPD app or the tracking link in the delivery email.
- The option opens once DPD has scanned the parcel in. Before that, tracking only says DPD is expecting it.
- You confirm the delivery postcode, then choose "Collect from a Pickup shop" and pick a shop from the map.
- DPD emails or texts a collection pass when the parcel reaches the shop. Take that and photo ID.
- The shop holds the parcel for a limited number of days before it is returned to the sender.
- A shop can be full, and some senders switch the option off for high-value or age-restricted goods.
- Once the parcel is out with the driver, the choices narrow and a shop redirect is usually no longer offered for that day.
What you get with Minted
The redirect booked for you
Switch on auto-book for a DPD parcel and choose a Pickup shop. Minted books it when DPD opens the option.
A clear answer either way
If DPD will not offer the option for a parcel, your tracker shows it, so you can plan to be in.
The postcode kept with the parcel
Each parcel carries its own delivery postcode, so the right one is always used.
A message when it is booked
You get a notification in Minted, and in Discord if you have connected it.
DPD next to every other courier
The parcel stays on your tracker, marked as redirected, alongside your Royal Mail and Evri orders.
Told when it moves
You hear when the status changes, including when the parcel is ready to collect.
Who it is for
Anyone who gets enough DPD parcels that babysitting each one is not realistic.
- Resellers with multiple DPD orders from the same release.
- People who are out during the day and would rather collect on the way home.
- Anyone who has had a stack of boxes left on the doorstep and does not want a repeat.
What you need
DPD redirects need one extra setup step on your Minted account that Royal Mail and Evri do not. It is done once, and the members' guide walks you through it.
- A Minted membership. Redirects are included on every paid plan. See the pricing page.
- The DPD parcel number and the delivery postcode for each parcel.
- A DPD Pickup shop you are happy to collect from.
- The one-off DPD setup step on your account.
- Photo ID and your collection pass when you collect.
